The Objective
To design a method or device to remove plant residue of depleted crops grown on plastic mulch.

The Solution
The Rotary Refuge Chopper is celebrating its 20th anniversary of inception. Designed to quickly and easily remove mulching plant residue, this device not only removes the refuse (tomato, cucumber, pepper, and many other plants) on existing plastic covered raised beds, but also prepares the bed for a second or third crop. The chopper is highly-versatile, thanks to one-inch increment adjustability (from 1”-24”), which proves invaluable on imperfect soils. With 16-reversible knives, easy three-point hook-up, heavy-duty 100hp gearbox and anti-scalp rear-mounted roller, the Rotary Refuge Chopper is currently in commercial production—and is your go-to for removing and reusing plant mulch.
